Endowed with a refined technique, giant otters often hunt in groups, demonstrating remarkable coordination during their incursions through rivers and lakes. However, despite sharing territory and associating in hunting activities, it is rare for them to share their prey. Each giant otter is a skilled and determined competitor, ensuring that its effort in the hunt is rewarded with its own meal.
A living example of this prowess is the Três Irmãos group, one of the units monitored in the Porto Jofre region. Recently, this group of giant otters demonstrated its success in one of its hunting trips, capturing prey with the efficiency and agility characteristic of the species.
