Those passing by Clodoaldo Garcia Avenue and Lagoa Maior in Três Lagoas will notice the presence of new residents, but they aren’t people—they are animals. Tapirs, caimans, and even jaguars are appearing on the city streets.
However, residents can rest easy, as these are not real animals. They are new animal sculptures representing the fauna of Mato Grosso do Sul.
In total, 84 wildlife sculptures will be installed at various points across the city. Fish sculptures will also be placed in certain locations, such as the Municipal Resort.
In recent years, Três Lagoas has gained several sculptures of birds common in Mato Grosso do Sul, such as macaws, toucans, and parrots. Recently, a sculpture honoring potters was installed in the 2nd Lagoon region.
The works are created by sculptor and visual artist Ivolin Ramos, who was contracted by the city government to execute the project.
