The fauna of Mato Grosso do Sul is in mourning following the news of the death of Anajulia, a majestic green anaconda (Eunectes murinus) measuring 6.5 meters in length. Affectionately named by renowned documentarian Cristian Dimitrius, the serpent became an iconic figure in local ecosystems and a star in several documentaries.
The sad episode occurred on the banks of the Formoso River, in the municipality of Bonito, where the body of the anaconda was found lifeless, the victim of fatal gunshots. The environmentalist community and nature lovers were devastated by the irreparable loss of such an emblematic specimen.
